Philosophy Applied to Life
In my classes, students learn to think, argue, and defend their position. We begin from exciting case studies and use their details to explore the philosophical concepts we're covering. By the end of the semester, students defend their philosophical interpretation of a specific case study, analyzing it in light the concepts we've used in class.

Fall 2019 In this course, we helped students discover how philosophy can pull out some of the thorny ethical difficulties in computer science, and hopefully provide some answers. Along the way, we learned how CS can bring insight to issues in philosophy as well. Each week, the students participated in a small group activity to help apply the philosophical concepts to their work in CS. Check out the slides and handout for one of our activities, along with the next week's follow-up activity. Co-taught with Suresh Venkatasubramanian; syllabus created with help from Eleanor Gilmore-Szott. |
